AQUAVOLTAICS

Aquavoltaics describes the strategic integration of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems directly onto the water surface utilized for aquaculture operations.
This methodology enables the concurrent cultivation of aquatic species and the generation of renewable electrical energy,
effectively utilizing a single water body for two distinct economic activities.

System Advantages:
  • Dual-Use Optimization: Deploys renewable energy on water, mitigating competition for terrestrial land resources.
  • Enhanced Aquaculture Yield: PV shading stabilizes the aquatic thermal profile, creating a less stressful, more optimal environment for cultivated species.
  • Improved Water Conservation & Quality: Shading lowers water temperature, suppresses algal blooms, and minimizes evaporative water loss.
  • Revenue Stream Diversification: Establishes a secondary income via water surface lease payments or energy co-ownership/sales.
  • Decentralized Power Generation: Provides essential, localized electricity for off-grid electrification and critical aquaculture operations.

AGRIVOLTAICS

Agrivoltaics integrates agricultural production and solar photovoltaic (PV) energy generation within a shared land area.
This methodology involves the calculated installation of PV modules at an elevated height and specific spacing over cultivated land or grazing areas.
This configuration is engineered to permit sufficient photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) to reach the underlying crops while simultaneously
maximizing the conversion of solar irradiance into electrical energy.

System Advantages:
  • Land Equivalent Ratio: Maximizes output per unit area through concurrent food and energy co-production
  • Mitigation of Abiotic Stress: PV shading reduces crop heat stress and evapotranspiration, conserving soil moisture
  • Diversified Revenue Stream: Creates a reliable, supplementary income from electricity generation and sales
  • Ecosystem Stabilization: Overhead protection minimizes wind damage and soil erosion, boosting overall crop resilience
  • Socio-Economic Impact: Supports decentralized rural electrification and strengthens regional energy independence
